ELIZABETH TAYLOR’S JEWELRY
Legendry actress Elizabeth Taylor’s world-renowned collection of jewelry is going to be auctioned off at a two-day sale in December by the New York auction house Christies. Beginning on December 13 at a two-day sale the auction will put a total of 269 pieces of jewelry up for bid & expects to realize more than 30 million.
The iconic collection put into auction consist of jewelry from diverse cultures like Traditional Christian jewelry, Jewish jewelry, Indian jewelry and occasion centric jewelry sets like Wedding jewelry, Bridal jewelry along with Gold jewelry, Diamond jewelry etc. In the category of Premier jewelry the sale will include some of the most iconic diamonds, gemstones, Pandora jewelry, michael hill jewelry , rings, historic jewels - in particular the 33.19-carat Krupp Diamond the first jewel; you may not be able to find in any jewelry store; that her one of the most famous ex husbands Richard Burton bought for her which was later known as the Elizabeth Taylor Diamond & the famous 16th-century La Peregrina pearl and the famed 17th-century Taj Mahal Diamond pendant. Interestingly the sale also includes some unique jewelry pieces similar to Etsy jewelry.
Christie’s America’s Chairperson and President Marc Porter say that this is no doubt the greatest private collection of jewelry ever assembled in one place. Some of the jewelry is now on an exhibition around the world for three months. The exhibition tour has already begun on September 15 in Moscow and will end on December 13 the day of the grand auction.
In keeping with the tune of Taylor’s humanitarian work, a part of the auction proceeds will be donated to The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, which the actress founded in the year 1991.
